Family Engagement Manager
Mary Canchola serves as the Family Engagement Manager at Strategic Learning Initiatives. Mary is responsible for training, facilitating workshops, coaching, modeling, leadership and support to schools. She is also responsible for recruiting and training parents to facilitate the workshops. The Strategic Learning Initiatives Family Engagement Program focuses on teaching parents how to become more involved in and better support their children’s learning. Mary has facilitated a variety of educational, interactive workshops in the Focus Instruction Process and in Networks of Neighborhood Schools. She has presented at the NAEYC/CMAEYC Opening Minds Conference in Chicago. She has worked with SLI since 2003. Prior to coming to Strategic Learning Initiatives, Mary was very involved in Maria Saucedo Scholastic Academy School where her two children attended. She was a Headstart Parent Advocate and served on the Policy Committee. Mary assisted the kindergarten teacher to assess student’s school readiness skills, served on the Local School Council, and was the secretary of the Parent Teacher Organization (PTO).Mary is a certified facilitator for Family Math, 7 Habits of Highly Effective Families and Color Me Healthy. She is licensed to deliver the Six Seconds’ Self-Science Curriculum and Model (Emotional Intelligence/Social Emotional Learning). She is fluent in English/Spanish.
