Early Childhood Family Engagement
The Early Childhood Family Engagement workshops helps parents with children 3-5 years of age become actively involved in their child’s early learning with an emphasis on engaging their child’s learning through everyday situations and positively impacting their child’s language, literacy, cognitive, physical and social development. We engage parents in working directly with their children on learning activities at home by giving them specific information and strategies that will enhance their interactions with their child.
We work directly with parents using a hands-on/interactive approach. This provides them with ideas and activities to support their child’s early learning through everyday activities, with an emphasis on fostering reading readiness, numeracy skills, motor skills, and enhanced self esteem, reinforcing skills taught in the classroom.
The two hour interactive workshops are based on the Abecedarian Curriculum – Learning Games designed by Drs. Joseph Sparling and Isabelle Lewis, researchers at the University of North Carolina. Workshops are facilitated in English and Spanish.
